The Most Interesting—

by joi on July 28, 2006

I’ve read several really interesting online articles the past week.  You know, the kind that actually stay with you rather than zipping out of your mind 10 minutes later.  I thought you just might find them interesting too, so….below are the links.  (Ever wonder why we all say that?  “Below are the links”?  Readers aren’t morons, they can see there are links -why announce them?  Protocol? Habit?  Whatever?)

The first two are about advertising/ads.  The field totally fascinates me, always has. I’ve never, never understood the practice of leaving the room during commercials - that’s when the fun starts!  My husband’s pretty much the same way - we love to watch them and see which ones we think are effective and which we think bite the big one.  Burger King’s King bites the super-sized one.  He’s gotta go - he’s just creeeeeepy.

Or the new Subway campaign - that annoying, “Eat Fresh!!” that the actor barks.  What the ish?!

There’s a real creative genius to writing ads - commercials or print - and those who write really effective ones have my admiration and appreciation.

(I love the Overstock ads - like the writer says, they stand out.)  You don’t forget the name.

There are endless articles about why people seem to be getting heavier, but the one above offers up a few fresh ideas. Personally, I think the biggest culprit is sitting right in front of me at this minute and right in front of you at this minute.  Shhhhh.
